Schola Gregoriana Belfast

Welcome to the home of Schola Gregoriana Belfast a small voluntary group of singers who seek to encourage the return of the great repertory of Catholic music to common liturgical use. We focus on singing Gregorian Chant and classic polyphony by composers like Victoria, Palestrina, Croce, Anerio and traditional hymns.

We were founded by a group of young friends at Queen’s University to sing Gregorian Chant, just for the love of the music itself. Demand from parishes in the city to come and provide music for their Masses was so great that we became and itinerant band of singers going from church to church as and when we were invited. Nearly three years on and we are still going strong, though can now be found between St Malachy’s Parish in Alfred Street and St Paul’s on the Falls Road.

We also promote the use of Gregorian Chant and good quality Church music for use by Parish Choirs, and run bi-annual Church music Workshops (Information on our latest is here) to help encourage other choirs to revisit this forgotten, yet timeless and deeply spiritual music.
